Partnering with RECREATE
Today we had the delightful opportunity to meet some beautiful people from the community. Thank you to RECREATE staff and volunteers for the wonderful work you do. Our pasta making workshop was fun and light-hearted and the food definitely bon appetite! At SuperGrans SuperSkills we are all about sharing skills and supporting people and whānau in our community.
Upcoming Workshops for July
It’s been a privilege to connect with communities across Ōtautahi and to work alongside the incredible people and spaces that support whānau every day. From community hubs and connection groups to social services, financial mentoring, and wellbeing support — these spaces are the heartbeat of a thriving, resilient community.
At SuperGrans, our values guide everything we do. We believe in manaakitanga (caring for others), sharing practical life skills, reducing waste, and making everyday living more affordable and accessible for all. That’s why we offer free, hands-on workshops designed to empower individuals and whānau with the confidence, knowledge, and tools to live well — from cooking and budgeting to gardening and sustainable living.
We love collaborating. If you see an opportunity for SuperGrans to align with your mahi, community group, or volunteer network, we’d love to hear from you.
Here are our workshops coming up over the next month — come along, get involved, and be part of something positive.
Sewing for Beginners
We held our first Sewing for Beginners workshop today! A huge thank you to everyone who came along, gave it a go, and brought your creativity to the room. We loved seeing you pick up new skills and get creative — and even better, walk away actually using what you made Such a confident, talented, and inspiring group of wāhine We’re already looking forward to the next one! Thank you Christine from Creative Junk - Early Childhood Resource Centre
Pasta Making Workshop
Another super successful Pasta Making Workshop completed!
A huge thank you to all the lovely wāhine who joined us today – your energy, laughter, and willingness to get hands-on made it such a special session. It’s safe to say we all agree… nothing beats the taste of fresh, homemade fettuccine and ravioli!
We absolutely love hearing your positive feedback and seeing your confidence grow in the kitchen – it’s what these workshops are all about.
A very special shout-out to our amazing SuperGrans volunteer, Helen. Your passion, knowledge, and the way you bring learning to life always make our workshops both educational and enjoyable. We are so grateful for you!
SGSSŌ Afternoon Tea Opening Event
We had an incredible time at our SuperGrans SuperSkills Ōtautahi event last Friday (August 8th) — what a blast! There were plenty of laughs, great connections, and delicious kai as our guests learned more about the mahi we do to support people and whānau in our community.
We’re proudly based at SuperGrans Ōtautahi, now working out of The Loft at Eastgate Mall, and we’re already loving the collaboration with other amazing social service providers in the space. So much goodness ahead!
